5 Hits for 911s Turner
Thursday, June 30th , 2016
Gil Turner put on a hitting clinic as the Reno 911s dumped the Riverside Firebolts, 7-4, at Field of the 911s.
The Reno shortstop made Riverside defenders earn their pay, lashing Riverside pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Turner said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Gil Turner singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and doubled in the 10th.
This season, Turner has hit at a .243 clip with 19 RBIs, 3 home runs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 76 games.
