Owls Shut Out Seals, 2-0
|
San Jose Owls pitcher Tony Soto was in top form, leading his team past the San Francisco Seals, 2-0. In 7.1 innings, Soto surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. San Francisco, with the loss, is still a hardy 6-1.
Derrek Stevens had a big run-scoring double for the Owls in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Jose leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 29-year old left-handed pitcher Emory Burch and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Owls ahead, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Stevens. "This is what good pitching looks like."
